Books

Sales, purchases, banking, statements, tax registers and the compliance calendar.

Books is the company ledger. It has ten tabs, ordered the way a month runs: Statements, Purchases, Sales, Credit notes, Payroll, Banking, Capital, Registers, Compliance and Masters. A financial-year selector at the top applies to every tab.

Nothing is stored as a total

The profit and loss, EBITDA, balance sheet and cash flow are worked out from the transactions every time you open them. A correction anywhere shows up everywhere at once, and the statements can never disagree with the entries behind them. Check that the balance sheet balances: it is the best single sign that the data is sound.

Sales

  • Invoice numbers are assigned for you, without gaps, per financial year — GST requires a continuous series.
  • Pick the supply type: it decides CGST + SGST against IGST.
  • Set a service period for a subscription and the revenue is spread across it rather than recognised on the invoice date.
  • Record the TDS your customer deducted and any payment-gateway fee; the expected receipt is the invoice less both.

Purchases

  • Enter what the bill says. The tax split, whether the input credit is claimable (and why not), and any TDS to withhold are previewed as you type.
  • Upload the PDF and the AI invoice reader proposes the entry for you to check and confirm.
  • Mark genuine assets as capital so they go to the asset register, not the year’s costs.
  • Spend on a personally-owned card becomes a loan from the director, recorded under Capital automatically.

Credit and debit notes

A correction to an invoice already reported is its own document, never an edit. Choose the original invoice and the taxable value being corrected; the tax is taken from the original’s rates.

Banking

Import a statement as CSV — overlapping periods are deduplicated — or upload the PDF for the AI statement reader. Its rows must tie to the statement’s opening and closing balances, and nothing is saved until you accept them. The match view then pairs each unexplained bank line with the sale, purchase or payroll payment it settles.

Capital, registers and compliance

  • Capital — fixed assets and depreciation, investments, borrowings and director loans.
  • Registers — GST purchase and sales registers, the TDS register (deducted, deposited, and withheld by customers), and a three-way match of documents to entries.
  • Compliance — the filing calendar (GST monthly, TDS quarterly, annual returns) with due dates and overdue flags; filings that do not apply to you can be marked not applicable once and are carried forward; year close; opening balances; GST registrations, one per state.

Closed periods

Once a year is closed, entries dated in it are refused, so signed accounts cannot drift. Reopening is deliberate and recorded against your user.
