AI executive offices

A C-suite that reads your books — and shows its working.

An AI executive office is an AI advisor for one seat of the C-suite, briefed on your company and given read access to the data that seat needs. Cortex has 26 of them, from the CFO to General Counsel. They explain, prioritise and recommend; the figures they quote are computed by code, and the decision is always yours.

How an office reasons

Why the numbers are exact.

A general chatbot is asked to read rows and add them up — and gets it wrong without saying so. Cortex splits the work: code handles every figure, the AI handles judgement.

  1. 01

    Your data

Sales, purchases, bank lines, payroll and filings, entered once in Cortex.

  2. 02

    Certified measures

Revenue, cash, payroll owed, credit lost — each defined once and computed by code, the same way every time.

  3. 03

    Checks

The month-end close runs deterministic checks: unmatched bank lines, tax not withheld or deposited, credit lost, payroll gaps, filings overdue.

  4. 04

    Findings

Each problem is stored with severity, amount, owner and suggested action — and marked resolved when a later run no longer finds it.

  5. 05

    Judgement

The office writes the headline, priorities and its view. It quotes the figures; it never invents or adds them up.

In practice

What you can ask — and what comes back.

CFO

“What is our cash runway, and what is still owed to us?”

Cash, receivables and monthly burn from the books, each dated, with the customers who owe the most.

Controller

“What did the September close find?”

The month-end findings — unmatched bank lines, tax not deposited, credit lost, filings due — with an owner and an action for each.

CHRO

“What did payroll cost this year, and what do we still owe people?”

Gross, paid and owed per month and per person, including who has left and when.

CEO

“What should I focus on this quarter?”

A view across the books and the other offices’ findings, ranked by money at stake and deadlines.

All 26 offices

What each office can see.

Access follows the seat. Finance offices read the ledger; department offices read their dashboards; strategy, legal and governance offices advise from your company brief.

Read your books

Query the ledger, payroll and compliance calendar through certified measures, and read the findings of the month-end close — when asked by a workspace admin.

Read your dashboards

Work from the live figures on the dashboards for their department; the CHRO also reads payroll (for workspace admins).

Our rules for AI

Four rules every office follows.

Code computes, AI explains.

Totals, balances and tax are worked out by code over your transactions. The model quotes them and reasons about them; it is never asked to do arithmetic.

Read-only by design.

No office can post, edit or delete an entry. Every recommendation ends with a person deciding.

Dated, not stale.

Every figure on a dashboard and in an answer carries the date it is as of, and offices re-fetch live data rather than trusting yesterday’s conversation.

Context, not guesswork.

Each office is briefed on your company — what you sell, how you fund it, what is deliberate — so it flags real problems, not false alarms.

Questions

Questions about the AI

How do the AI executive offices work?

Each office is an AI advisor for one C-suite seat, briefed on your company and given read access to the data that seat needs. Finance offices query certified measures computed by code from your books, so the figures they quote are exact. Reading company data is reserved for workspace admins; members ask the same offices, which then advise from your company brief. The AI Controller’s month-end close review records each problem it finds with a severity, an owner and an action.

Can the AI change my books?

No. Every AI office is read-only: it can query, summarise and recommend, but it cannot post, edit or delete an entry. People make every change, and every change to the books is recorded in an append-only audit log.

How accurate are the AI’s numbers?

The AI does not calculate figures. Totals, balances and tax are computed by code from your transactions and handed to the AI to quote, with the date they are as of. When a question needs a figure the books do not hold, the office is instructed to say so rather than estimate.

Which AI model does Cortex use, and is my data used for training?

Cortex uses Anthropic’s Claude models through Anthropic’s commercial API, which does not use API data to train its models by default. You can also connect your own Anthropic API key.

Give your company a Controller’s eye every month.

Request access and we will set up your workspace, so the offices work from your real books.
