What is Cortex?
Cortex is an AI-run ERP for growing companies: your books, payroll, tax compliance and dashboards in one place, with AI executive offices — a CFO, a Controller, a CHRO and more — that read your real numbers, check them for problems and tell you what needs doing.
What is an AI-run ERP?
An ERP is the system a company runs its finance and operations on. An AI-run ERP adds AI that works on that same data: it reads the books, checks them, and explains what it finds in plain language. In Cortex the AI only reads and advises — every entry is still made or approved by a person.
How do the AI executive offices work?
Each office is an AI advisor for one C-suite seat, briefed on your company and given read access to the data that seat needs. Finance offices query certified measures computed by code from your books, so the figures they quote are exact. Reading company data is reserved for workspace admins; members ask the same offices, which then advise from your company brief. The AI Controller’s month-end close review records each problem it finds with a severity, an owner and an action.
Can the AI change my books?
No. Every AI office is read-only: it can query, summarise and recommend, but it cannot post, edit or delete an entry. People make every change, and every change to the books is recorded in an append-only audit log.
How accurate are the AI’s numbers?
The AI does not calculate figures. Totals, balances and tax are computed by code from your transactions and handed to the AI to quote, with the date they are as of. When a question needs a figure the books do not hold, the office is instructed to say so rather than estimate.
Which countries does Cortex support?
The dashboards, AI offices and administration work for a company anywhere. The accounting and tax engine is built for Indian companies today — rupee books, GST and TDS. More countries are on the roadmap.
Does Cortex run payroll?
Yes. It runs monthly payroll prorated on working days, tracks tax deducted per line, and supports paying in parts — so salary owed is visible per person. Provident fund, ESI and professional tax are recorded as deductions you enter; they are not calculated automatically.
Can Cortex read my bank statements and invoices?
Yes. Import a bank statement as CSV, or upload the PDF for the AI to read; an AI reading must tie to the statement balances, and nothing is saved until you accept it. Supplier invoices can be read the same way into a proposed purchase entry for you to confirm.
Which AI model does Cortex use, and is my data used for training?
Cortex uses Anthropic’s Claude models through Anthropic’s commercial API, which does not use API data to train its models by default. You can also connect your own Anthropic API key.
How is my company’s data kept separate and secure?
Each company’s data is isolated by row-level security enforced inside the database on every company table. Passwords are hashed with Argon2id, sensitive fields are encrypted, traffic uses TLS, and an append-only audit log records changes.
How much does Cortex cost?
Plans are priced per company, not per seat: Growth is ₹4,900 a month (US$59), Business ₹14,900 (US$179) and Enterprise ₹49,900 (US$599); Indian customers add 18% GST. Every plan includes the full ERP — the plans differ mainly in AI usage and users.
Can my accountant work with Cortex?
Yes. Cortex keeps the registers an accountant needs — GST, TDS, assets — and produces a hand-off pack at year end. Invite your accountant as a workspace admin, the role Books requires.
